It is with profound grief and sadness that the family of Kaylee Elisabeth Diodene announces her passing on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024 from a very aggressive form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was 20 years old and native of Norco, LA.
Kaylee was a 2022 graduate of Destrehan High School where she was a joyful honor student and an athletic trainer for the football team. She was a junior in the honors program at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, majoring in environmental conservation biology with a minor in geology and chemistry. She was on the Dean’s List, an esteemed member of the Delta Pi Chapter of Delta Gamma sorority, a GEWW Crew leader, a senate chair in the Student Government Association serving the CPC Community, a Resident Assistant, and a mentor to many. Her professors describe her as “the glue that held their class together.”
A friend to everyone with a perpetual smile and a true heart of gold, Kaylee deeply loved her family, animals, the environment, and Disney World. Her plan was to save the world along with as many people and animals as possible. And if anyone could do it, it would be Kaylee, as she loved endlessly. She spent her final month living her dream of studying abroad in England and Scotland. Her loss leaves a gigantic void in the lives of many who knew her, loved her, and were touched by her.
She was the beloved daughter of Donald “Donnie” Diodene Jr. and Shannon McKeon Diodene of Norco; the granddaughter of Ray and Sharon McKeon and Betty and the late Donald Diodene Sr.; niece of Tracy Fisher (Jimmy), Brian Diodene (Stacey) and Cory Diodene (Heather); cousin of Jacob (Sophia) and Matthew Fisher, Brianne Diodene Guidry, Gabe Diodene, Evan Diodene, Olivia Diodene, and Mason Diodene. She also is survived by her parran, Calvin Anderson (Melinda), her “Big Sister”, Emily Madere, her boyfriend, Ryan Ferreira, her many Delta Gamma sisters, and her fellow Debby Dillehay dancers. Also mourning her passing are her “adopted aunts” Staci Gelpi and Nadia Herron. She leaves behind her beloved fur babies, Jynx and Nova, as she joins the late Fozzy and Luna in Heaven.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Williams Boulevard Baptist Church, 3000 Williams Blvd., Kenner, LA. Visitation will be held from 10 AM – 1 PM with a funeral service to begin at 1 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 375 Spruce St. Norco, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Delta Gamma Service for Sight Program (https://www.deltagamma.org/foundation/service-for-sight) are preferred.
The family wishes to thank the entire Norco community, the St. Charles Parish School System, Destrehan High School, Norco Elementary School, the University of Southern Mississippi community, and everyone who has expressed their love and concern. Please let Kaylee’s life live on through your kindness, service to others, and living your life to the fullest. That is how she lived her life to the very end. LOVE LIKE KAYLEE!
