Sharon Stewart

After a courageous battle with ALS, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 71 years of age. Loving wife of the late Jim Stewart (2001). Beloved mother of Tammy & husband Stephen of Niagara Falls. Loving and devoted Nan to Lauren, Kendall, and Violet. Cherished sister of Sue (the late Hans), Karen (Doug), Hans (Yvonne), “Beany” (the late Opal), Jolle (Sue), Rose, Eleanor (Jan), Janny (Andries), Evelyn (Donald), and brother-in-law Ray. Predeceased by her sister Joan (2001). She will be dearly missed by her sisters-in-law Dorothy (Basil), Vicky, and Cindy (Pete); and also by her many nieces & nephews. Sharon enjoyed many Friday nights at the Legion (Br. 479) with her friend and dancing partner Dieter Fiege. Her family wish to thank her homecare team Judy and Susan from Care Partners, Karen and Theresa from St. Elizabeth Health Care, and all of the Doctors & Nurses at the GNGH - ER and ICU department for their compassion & excellent care.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation beginning at 10AM followed by a Service of Remembrance at 11 AM at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Avenue, on Friday, December 2, 2016. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to The Amethyst for ALS – Hamilton Health Sciences (ALS Clinic at McMaster Hospital) or the ALS Society of Canada would be appreciated.
