Joanne was born to the late Cyril and Ariel May on May 21st, 1930 in Guelph Ontario. She attended NFCVI in Niagara Falls, then graduating from Western University and later completing her Masters of Education at University of Toronto. Joanne dedicated most of her career to teaching at Stamford Collegiate High School in Niagara Falls.
She is survived by her 3 sons, Mark (Rose), Geoffrey ( Nancy) and Paul (Barbara); along with 8 grandchildren: Jennifer, Matthew, David, Kara, Liam, Jacqueline, India, and Sierra; and 2 great grandchildren: Willow and Casey.
Joanne was a devoted mother, world traveler and an avid gardener with a love for anything beautiful in the garden. Her life took her to many places, living in England, Chicago, Berkeley California, London ON, and returning to Niagara Falls in 1968. She touched many people during her life, and was a 50+ year member of the Niagara Falls University Women's Club. Joanne will be missed, but not forgotten.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls, Ontario. A Memorial Service will occur Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel. Nancy Joanne will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Niagara Falls, Ontario; Section: 2, Lot: 0339, Grave: 3. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joanne's memory may be made to Hospice Niagara, www.hospiceniagara.ca.
