It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon Robert Buckley announces his passing on March 5, 2012.
Gordon is survived by his three daughters, Cheryl (John Wolfenberg ), Linda (William Wills) and Barbara ( David Warriner ) and his very special friend and partner Barbara Muisiner. Gordon has nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren scattered across Canada, Japan and Belgium.
Gordon began life in a log cabin at Sand Lake, Ontario. He served his country as a member of the Royal Canadian Navy. After the war, Gordon began life as a police officer and was married to Marion Sweet of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Gordon was a proud husband, father and police officer. After retiring from the Niagara Regional Police, Gordon and Marion spent their retirement with summer and fall at Sand Lake and the rest of the year in Niagara doing volunteer work with the Community Soup Kitchen and Meals On Wheels. Marion passed away in the spring of 2008.
Gordon lived everyday fully, loved to laugh and was always reading and investigating the world around him. Lucky to be loved by two great women, happy to have a busy family, Gordon will be missed by all who knew his smile and blue eyes.
In keeping with Gordon’s wishes cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service to be held at St. Davids Queenston United Church, 1453 York Road, St. Davids 905 262 5242 on Friday March 9th 2012 at 11:00a.m. with inurnment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Niagara Falls.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made through Hetherington and Deans Funeral Chapel to Meals on Wheels or the Community Soup Kitchen would be appreciated by the family.
