Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton on January 9th, 2019 at the age of 90. Predeceased by her husband George (1974) and daughter Brenda Shirley Currie (2011) and her siblings Pete (Bridget) Mundier and Emma (Leonard) Moore. Survived by her loving daughters Beverly (Pete) Remizove and Berniann (Jeff) Gibson. Beloved grandma to Tammy (Bill) Sparkes, Tina Burns, Joyce Currie, Janet (Jamie) Keats, Julia Currie, Phil (Vanessa) Gibson, and Ashley (CJ) Butler. Proud great-grandma to 21 and great-great grandma to 6 children.
Betty always put others first, always willing to lend a helping hand in any capacity. She was a fabulous home maker, loved knitting, crocheting and sewing for her children and grandchildren. At the age of 44 she entered the workforce with the Federal Government and retired after 20 years of dedicated service. She was fiercely independent and had a passion for travelling, locally and abroad. In her later years, she enjoyed cruising with her family. For many years, Betty was a leader with the Girl Guides of Canada and she was also a lifetime member of the Empress (Bluebell Rebekah) Lodge in Niagara Falls for more than 66 years.
The family will receive visitors at HETHERINGTON AND DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls on Friday January 11th from 7- 9 pm and Saturday January 12th from 11- 12:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 12:00pm with interment to follow at St. Davids- Queenston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Betty would want you to donate to your favourite charity.
