Richard Thomas Herbert

Richard was born in Newark, NJ to the late George and Alice (Pern) Herbert. Richard grew up in Newark, and then moved to Bloomfield before settling in Dingmans Ferry, PA. Richard was a proud Army Veteran. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Furnace Operator in Newark, NJ.

The beloved husband to the late Ellen A. Herbert, Richard is survived by his children, Richard T. Herbert, Jr. (Debbie), Kathleen Gerulski (James), Elaine Lopez (Jesse) and Lenny Herbert (Donna), 28 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Richard is predeceased by his parents and his wife Ellen; his daughter, Carolann Damitz and her husband Billy; his 2 sons, Tommy and Larry Herbert and Larry’s wife, Shannon; and his 3 brothers George, Clifford, and Raymond.

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ 07860. A funeral service will begin at 6 p.m.
