Joseph was born on December 2, 1933 in New York, NY to the late Salvatore and Marion (Vionito) Sciascia. He grew up in Brooklyn, briefly moved to Nutley, where he began dating his wife RoseMarie, before settling in Stillwater in 1966. During his career he was a manager for 25 years at a textile plant, went on to become an owner at Villa Capri Pizzeria and then worked with his son in Hazardous Waste Management. He was a longtime member of Knights of Columbus. Joseph was known for being a great cook; his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Nothing made him happier than to have a full house and bringing laughter to those he loved. One of his greatest gifts were to make sure everyone he came in contact with felt special and like part of his family.
The beloved husband of 67 years to RoseMarie Sciascia, Joseph is survived by his children, Salvatore Sciascia and his wife Shelly, AnnMarie Sciascia, Jeannine Jensen and her husband Jerry and Maria Kylish and her husband Bob; his grandchildren, Carla Kachelriess, Nick Taormina, Joseph Sciascia, Dominique Ganska, Jeanmarie Ciarelli, Joseph Colon, Jared Jensen, Adria and Cameron Tidaback, two bonus grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. onThursday, March 3, 2022 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, 203 Swartswood Rd, Newton, NJ with interment to follow at Stillwater Cemetery.
