Tanya was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, and went on to dedicate 40 years as a pharmacist/chemist. She eventually relocated to Stillwater with her beloved husband, Stephen Stark. Married for 26 years, Tanya and Stephen traveled the world together and embarked on countless explorations. Her adventurous spirit led her to visit France, Italy, Africa, and South America, among many other places. Tanya’s last trip was to the Galápagos Islands, a destination she had always wanted to see.
Tanya was also a talented photographer and loved capturing images of nature and birds. Her passion for photography led her on several trips for National Geographic with renowned photographer and conservationist Art Wolfe. She was especially fond of birds, and helped other bird enthusiasts all over the world through the Bird Channel. Tanya loved rescuing birds from people who no longer wanted them, and at one point had 14 exotic parrots in her care at home.
Tanya is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Stark, and many friends around the world who will miss her dearly.
A celebration of Joanne “Tanya” Stark’s life will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Impact Christian Church, 749 County Rd 565, Augusta, NJ 07822.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Tanya’s memory may be made to Under My Wing Avian Refuge, 1243 Rte 23 North, Wantage, NJ.
