Gary was born on August 6, 1950 in Liberty Township, PA to the late Nelson and Margaret (Coup) Weaver. He grew up in Hackettstown before proudly earning his associate’s degree at Saint Lawrence College in Ontario, Canada in Accounting and Business Administration.
He began his career in banking at First National State Bank of Northwest Jersey, where his keen attention to detail and unwavering work ethic led him up the ranks, starting from Assistant Clerk to Junior Lending Officer. He worked in various financial institutes as well as working in real estate before working his current role as a Collections Manager with Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer in Woodbridge.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gary was a devoted member of the Washington Kiwanis Club, embodying the spirit of community service and leadership. Gary was devoted to his community; volunteering at the Salvation Army and United Way. He was also a Boy Scout Leader, Little League Coach and a past Deacon.
Despite all of his accomplishments, family was at the heart of Gary's life. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, taking immense joy in supporting his children’s endeavors and reveling in the delight that came with being a grandfather.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Denise Weaver; his children, Justin Weaver and his wife, Kelly and Dana Sloan and her husband, Matthew; his granddaughter, Rylee G. Weaver; many siblings, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 5 pm – 8 pm at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the funeral home at 10 am. Interment to follow at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Netcong.
