Edward was born in Newton on May 3, 1967, he grew up in Allamuchy and graduated from Hackettstown High School in 1985. During his residency in Allamuchy, Edward was a fireman for Allamuchy Fire Department for many years. Edward settled in Andover Township 27 years ago. He was a manager at Fairclough Fuel & Propane in Newton and was a member of the NJ Propane Gas Association. Edward enjoyed being outdoors; he was an avid fishermen and golfer. He enjoyed watching soccer, football, NASCAR and baseball and he was an enthusiastic Yankees fan. Edward was also very active in his sons soccer career, he never missed a single game throughout their lives; he was a proud father and his sons were his world.
The beloved husband to Cecilia Metzgar, Edward is also survived by his sons, Noah and Samuel Metzgar; his parents, Abram and Bernice (Barabas) Metzgar; his brother, Michael Metzgar; his canine companions, Rocky and Olive and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ. A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
