Robin Ann Moore Hutchins, 64, of Clayton, North Carolina, passed away on October 2, 2024, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC, after a brave battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Born in Hickory, North Carolina, on September 15, 1960, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Moore and Ethel Catherine Blackwell Moore.
Robin was the first woman to volunteer as a firefighter for the Newton Fire Department, breaking barriers with her courage and dedication. She worked as a Respiratory Therapist for 15 years, providing care and comfort to countless patients. More recently, she was a Retail Merchandiser, where her hard work and friendly demeanor left a lasting impact on her clients.
Robin was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Frank Hutchins; her son, Chad Hutchins; her beloved grand-dog, Gordon; sisters Faye Myers and husband Phil; and brothers Jerry Moore, Roger Moore and wife Sue. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Few, and brother, Dale Moore. Robin also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews who adored her.
Robin was a member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Hickory, NC, where she found community and faith.
A receiving of friends will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 3PM to 5PM at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the extraordinary doctors, nurses, and staff at UNC Hospitals, particularly those in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and the Medical Intensive Care Unit, for their compassion and care during her final days. Additionally, they wish to thank Crystal and Jeff Barber, and Kayla Fox, for helping her sister Faye be with Robin on her final day. Further, the family expresses their gratitude to one of Robin’s longtime best friends, Cindy Smith-Canipe, for her support. Finally, they extend their deepest thanks to Robin’s friend of 35 years, Tina Bagnal.
