Peggy Coleen McGee

Peggy Coleen Duckworth McGee, 76, of Claremont passed away on January 10, 2024 at Abernethy Laurels. Born November 4, 1947 in Lincoln County; she is preceded in death by her parents Steve & Doris Duckworth, as well as her husband Steve McGee. Coleen worked as a Customer Service Representative in the furniture industry and retired from C.R. Laine. She also worked for years with the late Bud Reinhardt at ABC Florist. Coleen was a lover of animals, helping others, and gardening. She lived her life her way with no apologies.

She is survived by her immediate family; two sons, Derreck McGee and wife Melissa of Saint Hedwig, TX, Brock McGee of Washington, DC, and her sister Linda Teague of Hickory.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 17, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Willis Reynolds Funeral Home, 56 Northwest Blvd., Newton, NC 28658. A Funeral and Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 in the sanctuary of Friendship Church Newton, 2900 NC-16, Newton, NC 28658 at with Rev Cindy Nanney Oficiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
