Melanie is preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Margaret “Christine” Stewart; grandfather, James Stewart; father-in-law, Dwight Cranford; uncle, Eugene Gentle; aunt, Crystal Sweet.
Those left to cherish Melanie’s memory are her husband Scott Cranford; her parents James and Lydia Stewart; her twin sister Jennifer Stewart Smith and husband Todd; uncle Robert Stewart and his wife Marta; cousin Luca Stewart; mother-in-law Lee Roux and husband Rob; three nieces, Ava Smith, MacKenzie Roux, and Sarah Wood and husband Joey; two nephews Ian Smith and Carter Roux; godchildren Thomas and Emerson Hinnant, Julia Green, Sarah and Daniel Simmons.
Melanie graduated from Newton-Conover High School, and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree at University of North Carolina and went on to receive a degree at Florida State University School of Law. Melanie also worked with Legal Aid in Morganton, NC and as a GAL attorney advocate for Guardian Ad Litem, Iredell County and was a talented artist.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Newton on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 3:30PM. A receiving will be held prior to the Celebration of Life from 2:15PM-3:15PM.
