Marcus D Strickland, Jr, known as “Mark” to his family and friends, age 57, went home to be with the Lord after his brief battle with Metastasis Squamous Cell Lung Cancer on July 2nd, 2024 surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Paul Strickland. He will forever be loved and missed by his parents Marcus and Betty Strickland of Conover, by his sister, Annette Rudisill, sister-in-law April Cantor (Mike), Nephews- Colton Sprinkle (Brianna), Noah Rudisill (fiancé Kimberlynne Hazen, and Wyatt Rudisill, his great nieces Rynli Sprinkle, Jesse Sprinkle, Emmy Sprinkle and the upcoming birth of his great nephew Beckett Sprinkle and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mark was a quiet, private person who loved with all his heart. He enjoyed the simple things in life like sitting outdoors, fishing, and taking in all of God’s beautiful handy work, especially the mountains and beaches. He loved building model cars and coloring with his great nieces. Mark was a painter and carpenter by trade and enjoyed working with his father in the family-owned business.
To honor Mark’s wishes, the family will be having a private memorial service at a later date. He requested that if anyone wanted to honor his memory that in lieu of flowers a memorial contribution be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Children’s Levine Hospital in Charlotte which were dear to his heart.
