Ethelene Huggins Ervin

Born January 12, 1920, in Hughes County, OK, she was the daughter of the late Harrison Grover Huggins and Annie Love Quinton Huggins. Ethelene was a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church in Newton, where she had been active in the WELCA and was also involved in several area bridge clubs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Neil Alexander Ervin, Sr.; brothers, Henry Huggins and Fred Huggins.

Left to cherish her memory are her son N. Alex Ervin, Jr. and wife, Criss of Newton; daughter, Peggy E. Barton of Newton; sister, Frances Hefner of Hickory; 5 grandchildren, Jeff Layton and wife Debra, Andrew Layton and wife, Jenny, Josh Ervin and wife, Jennifer, Gabe Ervin and wife, Allyson, Quint Ervin and wife, Melissa; great-grandchildren, Ben Layton, Ada Ervin, Vance Ervin, Eli Ervin, Kate Layton, Ollie Ervin, Ivey Ervin, and Gigi Ervin.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Beth Eden Lutheran Church in Newton, with Rev. Marcus Ollis officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jeff Layton, Andrew Layton, Josh Ervin, Gabe Ervin, Quint Ervin and Shawn Paul.
