Debra Janece Young

Debra Hamrick Young - November 20th, 1952 - March 3rd, 2023. Debra (Debbie) H. Young passed away at Catawba Valley Medical Center after a period of declining health. She is preceded in death by her loving parents Harold and Selma Hamrick and her true love Harry Lee Thornton.

Those left to celebrate her life include her daughters, Lindsay Norris and husband Jeff of Newton, NC and Stephanie Wells and husband Callie of Valdese, NC; her brother Leon Hamrick and wife Linda of Tulsa OK; a granddaughter Lily Wells; a niece Kristy Bray and husband Jimmy of Tulsa, OK; a nephew Sean Hamrick and wife Cara of Dallas, TX; and an extended family filled with aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Debbie worked for FasTrack Racing Journal for the last 30 years, starting out as a Production Manager and later becoming the Managing Editor. Before that, she was an elementary art teacher in Alexander County. In the late 70’s she worked in the office at Hickory Motor Speedway. Debbie loved movies, drawing, crafting, reading, listening to music, and spending time with her daughters and family.
