Susan Rose Malone

Susan was born in Huntington, Indiana to Robert & Jean Johnston on April 2, 1952. She graduated from Fontana High School, where her father was a Math Teacher and an Athletic Coach. Her mother was an RN and she served as the Director of Nurses at a few skilled nursing facilities throughout her career. Susan married Art Malone on July 25, 1981, in Redlands, CA. They met at work when their two companies were working on a collaboration project for the same service bureau. She started as a teller at Redlands Federal in Fontana, CA and worked her way up to become a Project Manager after working for a handful of Financial Institutions until she retired in 2022.

Susan was a true warrior in her fight against breast cancer, which unfortunately led to her passing. She lived a wonderful life filled with love, laughter, music, and her passion for painting. She was an outstanding artist who was always learning new techniques and using those skills to create portraits, landscapes, floral arrangements and holiday scenes on wood, glass, canvas, and clothing. Her favorite vacation spot was in Dana Point overlooking the beach, where she enjoyed watching her family play in the water and sand, watching the sunset, and enjoying bonfires while making the delicious treat of s'mores.

Susan is preceded in death by two of her sisters and her parents. Susan is survived by her husband, Art, her children Allison and Stephen, Nephew David, grandniece Madyson and son-in-law Daniel.

After the memorial service, the immediate family will be making a special boat trip out of Dana Point Harbor, to spread her ashes at sea.

The family of Susan wishes to extend their sincerest thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at Providence St Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, CA for taking such wonderful care of her over the past 9 years and the staff at The Gardens for taking the best care of her in her final months.

Funeral services will be held at 10am on June 29, 2024, at the Monarch Chapel at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Newhall, CA.

Since blue was Susan's favorite color, the family invites you to wear blue to the memorial service.
