Sharon was born on May 22, 1939, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Irving J. Harles and Mildred A. Roy. She grew up in St. Paul, attended the University of St. Catherine, graduating with a degree in Mathematics. In 1961 she was recruited by the Los Angeles Unified School District to teach math at Sepulveda Middle School in North Hills, California. Sharon taught there for most of her 42-year teaching career. She loved her profession, her students, and her Sepulveda faculty members.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 49 years, Douglas J. Miller, children Lynn Miller, Patti Miller, and Greg Miller, his wife Nikki Hovland Miller, grandchildren Elijah and Grace Miller, all of Santa Clarita, sister Judy Fuller of St. Paul, Minnesota and caregiver Loisse Abustan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, 22508 Copper Hill Drive, Santa Clarita, CA. 91350, (661) 296-3180, on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 11:30 a.m., preceded by a Rosary service at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in Slattery Hall next to the church.
