Scott Neal Lane died Thursday July 9th, 2015 at the age of 76 after a yearlong battle with Leukemia. He will be most remembered by his sons, Jeffrey, Marcus, John, Brian, Cory, and his friend and companion of 19 years, Lisa Morris Bailo. Scott is also survived by his sister, Betty, and three brothers, Tom, Joe, and David.
He was born in Glasgow, Kentucky and raised on a small farm in Hardinsburg, Indiana by Henry Rupert and Edith Scott Lane. As a boy, he grew tobacco and milked the cows for the family business. He lettered in baseball and basketball at Hardinsburg High School and after graduating in 1957 he joined the US ARMY rising to the rank of Corporal as a Comptroller for Company B First Airborne Battle Group 327th Infantry. He accomplished many jumps as a paratrooper.
After his service to our country, he moved to Chicago where he worked as a milkman and gas station manager. In 1964 he moved to California where he began his entrepreneurial pursuits. He founded several businesses in the San Fernando Valley ultimately finding a niche as a residential building contractor. He was an active member of the community presiding over the Granada Hills Chapter of the Rotary Club, regularly attending the First United Methodist Church of Reseda, and regularly volunteering with the Mid Valley YMCA.
Scott enjoyed adventure and traveled throughout the United States, Caribbean, and Europe. Later in life he retired in Anza, CA, where he lived peacefully on his ranch for over a decade, taking joy in raising his animals which included five horses, 3 dogs, several chickens, and sheep.
