Judith Ann Chapman, age 83, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 13, 2023. The eldest daughter of William H. Irons, Jr. and Contance Glenn, Judy was born in Los Angeles, California on September 26, 1939.
After courting for seven days, Judy married a man who she would spend the rest of his life with, Cliff. In the sixty years they were married their focus and joy was their family, which is evidenced by their love for their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Judy proudly and endlessly supported her husband’s military career by sacrificing her own ambitions and desires to follow him to various ports. Clearly Judy could not join Cliff on certain deployments, thus she was both mother and father during his extended absences. Judy’s endless energy and strong emotional resolve lent to her effectively executing these seasons.
To subsidize the required income to support four children, Judy worked at various restaurants, often in managerial roles. The skills needed and fostered in the hospitality industry proved to transfer extremely well for family backyard barbeques, Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas celebrations.
Judy’s family values and strong work ethic were imbedded in her children and grandchildren, and there is no doubt these admirable qualities will be passed on to her great grandchildren as well.
Judy was the beloved wife of Clifford Chapman (preceded in death), devoted mother of Laurie Macy (preceded in death), Clifford Chapman and his wife Rowena (Orcutt, CA), Candace Chapman (Orcutt, CA), and Leah Harper and her husband Raymond (Van Nuys, CA), devoted grandmother of Clifford Chapman (San Angelo, TX), Krystie Groth (Nashua, NH), Corey Chapman (San Diego, CA) and Justin Chapman (Canyon Country, CA), devoted great grandmother of Hunter, Clara Mae, Bethany, Owen, and Gage.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
