Jerry went to school in Highland Park, California and graduated from Franklin High School. Jerry married Yolanda Olivia Melendez on February 13, 1960, in Los Angeles.
In the summer of 1963, Jerry started work as a package car delivery driver for UPS until 1973/74 when he transitioned to a tractor trailer Feeder driver. Jerry received many safe driving awards throughout the years and also received a commendation from the California Highway Patrol for his assistance with another disabled tractor trailer on the freeway.
Jerry was a proud husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle. He loved his wife Yolanda and two children, Marie and Eric and worked hard to provide for them. Jerry was the baby in his family and was proud of his older brothers, Merle, Phil, Bob and Dick who served in the military and Coast Guard.
