Charles graduated from Lancaster High School in 1956. After moving to Pacoima, California he met his loving wife Anita Louise Anderson. They were united in holy matrimony on April 22, 1956. To this union four beautiful children were born. Cheryl, Derrick, Derryl and Charles Jr.
In 1956 Charles joined the United States Army to serve his country. Upon his return, he worked for Los Angeles Unified School District. He eventually found his passion working in the construction field.
Mr. Spencer also had a love for Pop Warner Football and Track and Field where he coached his sons Derrick, Derryl and Charles Jr. He enjoyed watching them run track and play football more than anything. With the youth of the San Fernando Valley athletics is where he enjoyed spending his weekends. He enjoyed teaching all kids, not just his own. He became a father figure, mentoring and loving all who came in contact with him through the San Fernando Valley youth programs. Mr. Spencer was well-known, respected and loved by all who knew him in the San Fernando Valley.
Charles was one of the founding members of the Fugitives motorcycle club. He absolutely loved riding his Harley Davidson. Charles also loved golfing where he attended and competed in several tournaments.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Lillian and Mattie Spencer, his sister Francine, brother Lillian Jr. (LC), his sister Phyllis, and his oldest son Derrick. He leaves to cherish his memory wife Anita, daughter Cheryl (Ron), son Derryl, son Charles Jr. (Freda), son Mark, daughter Juwana (Brian), daughter Sandra grandkids Deon, Ebony, Charles III, Kyle, Katrese, Paris, JaShawn, Cameron (Shainata) and Ju’nae. Great grands, Nevaeh, Alayia, Gianna and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
