Bruce Earl Bugbee, age 76, and long-time resident of the Southwest, died suddenly on the evening of June 20th, 2017 at his home in Valencia California. Family members who were present at his passing noted a look of peace and contentment upon his face.
Born in Wallace Idaho on July18, 1940, Bruce’s life journey took him to many places within both the eastern and western US. He met his life’s mate Connie (Garcia) Bugbee while attending school at Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix AZ, and the couple married on March 27,1959. Thereafter, they shared most every day together.
Bruce obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Los Angeles and added a Master’s degree from USC in Business Administration before going to work for Lockheed Martin. They lived and loved in New York City and the nation’s capital before settling back in the more tranquil Santa Clarita Valley.
Along the way, Bruce fathered three children with Connie. Jeffery his first, followed by Kimberley, and Michele several years later.
Bruce was active coaching his kids’ sports teams, and teaching as an adjunct business professor at the local college. When he retired and took a moment for himself, he enjoyed reading, listening to music, and rooting for his favorite sports teams, including the Lakers and Dodgers. He particularly enjoyed attending NASCAR and other auto races, and spending time at their beach home in Channel Island, CA.
It was his family however - his dedicated wife and his children along with their six grand-children - who became the focus of a man who put all others within his circle above himself in importance. Having lost two sisters at a young age to Cystic Fibrosis, Bruce understood the precarious nature of life and chose because of it to value family first and above all.
Those remaining behind now with well endowed memories of his kindness and good nature include his wife Connie along with son Jeffery (Pamela), daughters Kimberley (Jay) and Michele (James) - along with the two grandchildren from each of the children’s unions; Taylor and Lucas, Carter and McKenna, and Preston and Peyton, as well as a host of friends and other relations.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on June 29th , 2017 at Saint Kateri Church in Santa Clarita. Monsignor Michael J. Slattery will be presiding. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on June 28th , 2017 with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM at Eternal Valley Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation [ www.cff.com ].
