Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was one of four children born to the late Uell Hendrix and Noble Price.
Bert was united in holy matrimony to Clifford Brumfield in 1979. Together the two of them raised a total of 9 children. Bert is survived by her children, Kenneth Hendrix, Patricia Hagen, Henry Morrison, Cedric Cole, Teria Cole, Gregory Cole and Edgar Cole. Bert was also blessed with 5 step-children; Jackie, Kathy, Rosella, Vivian and Janice.
Bert was a fun, loving and faithful mother, wife and grandmother. She was also a very hard working woman who dedicated most of her life to being the best wife, mother and grandmother she could be to her family. Bert worked for Control Products in the Aero Space industry and Facey Medical Group for over 20 years and soon after she was running a family-owned clothing cleaners business with her husband, Clifford. Bert was also a very smart investor as she purchased her first home before the age of 30, which she eventually gave to her daughter, Patricia, who still lives there today.
After retiring from the workforce at the age of 53, she also became a foster mother to many unfortunate children of different races. In 2005, she decided to stop foster parenting. Bert spent most of her days doing what she liked most, cooking. She was an exceptional cook who loved to cook soul food and baked goods. In fact, it was not unusual to find Bert cooking a full blown 5 course meal for her family on a daily basis, and on holidays, she would prepare a host of delectable desserts including sweet potato pies, peach cobbler and cakes. Other hobbies include traveling to Las Vegas with friends and playing the slot machines. Bert also had a passion for shopping and style which could be seen by her daily attire and the immaculate home she kept.
Out of all of the life achievements Bert accomplished, her most notable quality would be her unwavering faithfulness to her children and grandchildren. She was always there for them when they needed her and she set a good example of how to be the best person they could be.
Bert went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 in the comfort of her youngest son, Edgar Cole’s home, shared with his wife and daughters.
Bert was a beautiful person inside and out. She leaves her husband, lover and friend Clifford; seven children; five step-children; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Also, two very special friends Willie Mae Perkins of Palmdale, CA and Betty Jackson of Texarkana, TX and other relatives and friends.
A MOTHER’S LOVE
By: Cedric Cole
Thank you Mother for all that you have done,
You took great care of your daughters and sons.
You loved us all from the very start,
With your warm, kind and loving heart.
Thank you Mother for being strong,
While trying to teach us right from wrong.
If anytime we had a problem,
You were there to help us solve them.
You’d lift us up when we were feeling blue,
Thank you Mother for we could always count on you.
You were such an awesome Mother,
The love you showed was like no other.
Thank you Mother for your dear sweet love,
Now you’ll watch over us from
Heaven Above.
