Sally Lou (Augspurger) Loehr of Newburgh, IN, passed away on Saturday May 21, 2022, at the age of 88. She was born on June 7, 1933, in Roanoke, IN, spending most of her life in Newburgh. Sally graduated from high school in Fort Lauderdale, FL, in 1951. Sally first worked at Welborn Clinic Downtown and later spent many years working in retail sales at Sears. Throughout the years, she loved spending her money on gifts for each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was actively involved with a wonderful group of women in a Clabber Club for 60 plus years. She and her family were members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Newburgh, IN. Sally supported her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren by cheering them on during thousands of games whether it was baseball, basketball, t-ball, volleyball, cheerleading, swimming, soccer and multiple activities. Sally was an avid reader and loved beach vacations, summer pool times; life really revolved around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Victor Robert Augspurger and Nina Beatrice (Weaver); and by her husband, Leo Morris Loehr. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Nancy Smith, Mary Catherine Paul, James Augspurger, Richard ‘Bud’ Augspurger, Barbara Spindler, and Mark Augspurger. Sally is survived by her children, Carol Smith (Mark), Jill Mattingly (Dennis), Todd Loehr (Julie), and Lynne Mitchell; grandchildren, Jeremiah (Brittany), Rachel, Sierra (Hunter), Lindsay (Greg), Ashley (Tim), Nicole, Erin, Conner;10 great grandchildren, Izzy, Jackson, Kate, Luke, Olivia, Charlotte, Leo, Greyson, Adeline, and Hudson; sister, Shirley Grzegorek; brother, Phil Augspurger; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank the ER and ICU staff and Chaplain Ben at Deaconess Gateway, as well as Father Malaka of St. John for the care and compassion they showed Mom in her final days. We would also like to thank family and friends for all the prayers and support during this difficult time. A prayer service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, with burial to follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A time of memories and sharing will be held on Wednesday beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the prayer service at the funeral home.
