Roger McConnell Huff, age 83, of Newburgh, passed away on November 26, 2024, at his son’s home in Alpharetta, GA. Roger was born on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1941, to Rebecca (McConnell) Huff and Coultas Huff in Evansville, IN.
After graduating from Reitz High in 1959, Roger enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served a tour in South Korea. In 1962, he returned to Evansville and pursued what would be a long career with Conrail and the Federal Railroad Administration.
Roger was known for his deep appreciation for education, science, and nature. He pursued higher education at ISUE and the University of Evansville. He loved learning about the vastness of the universe and was known to take long road trips to national parks, which anyone was welcome to join. He was an avid wildlife photographer in his later life, leaving behind an extensive collection of photos.
Roger loved beyond measure and was loved in return. He was an adored father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, neighbor and friend. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Roger Alan of Dickinson, ND; Kelly (Claudia) of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren, Alec Corie (Abby), Brian, Catherine (Theodore), Brianne, Tristen (Sidney); his great-grandchildren Penelope, Amelia, Samuel and Milo; his sister-in-law Kayron and nieces Christian and Brandy. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry, as well as his mother and father.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Alexander Funeral Home in Newburgh with visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by the celebration.
