Lieutenant Colonel Robert “Bob” Wayne Batey, 77, of Newburgh, IN went to be with The Lord Monday, August 5, 2019, at his home. He was born in Evansville, IN on October 29, 1941 to Reese P. and Edith M. Batey.
He graduated from North High School in 1959. Bob entered the United States Army on May 23, 1962, and retired in 2001. He graduated from U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS. Until he became ill, Bob was active in the Hadi Shrine. He served as President of the Oriental Band. He was Past Master of Reed Lodge 316 and Constellation Lodge 748. Bob was a life member of American Legion Kapperman Post 44, and a member of Sword of Bunker Hill, DAV, and Bethel United Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, James Batey, Paul Bell; and daughter, Mary Pressley.
Bob is survived by the “love of his life,” Bettie Batey; son, David Batey (Julie) of Evansville, IN; daughters, Cindy Posner (Brad), Sue Sanso (John), Linda Moore (John), Penney Siford all of Newburgh, IN; son, John Siford (Riza) of Jersey Shore, PA; and many loving and adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Rev. Stephanie Weiner with military honors. Friends may visit 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 6:00 p.m.
