She moved to Evansville in the fall of 1954. Mary attended Wheeler School and graduated from Bosse High School in 1960. She attended Ripon College, in Ripon, WI, receiving an AB degree in History and Education.
Mary was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, serving for years on Vestries and Search Committees. Mary served on the staff at the Evansville Association for the Blind. She was also employed at Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation, Goodwill; and at the Red Cross as a Field Representative; and served on staff for the Phi Mu Musical Fraternity.
She taught school for seven years in downtown Racine, WI. Mary also taught briefly on the west side of Evansville.
A most meaningful time in Mary’s life was the many years she served in The Cursillo Movement, as Multiple Presenter, Chairman, and on the Speech Preparation Commission. This brought her in touch with hundreds of people.
In the years of her disability, Mary reached out to the community in a myriad of ways, ranging from teaching English to immigrants, to helping them prepare for citizenship. She also advised individuals who needed assistance to obtain help from agencies.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, The Rev. William Robert and Elinor (Cutler) Webb.
She is survived by her brother, The Rev. Robert Webb of Madison, IN; nephew, John Webb of Terre Haute, IN; and nieces, Sarah Webb and Anne Gee of Bozeman, MT; grand nieces, Chelsea Webb of Pittsboro, IN, and Clara Ruth Gee of Bozeman, MT; and grand nephews, Eli James Gee and Silas John Gee, also of Bozeman.
Services will be 12:00 PM, Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by The Rev. Dr. Richard R. Godbold, with burial at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
