Marcus “Marc” O’Neil Miller, 77, of Newburgh, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was born February 15, 1947 in Linton, IN to the late Ovle Eugene and Alice Mae (Young) Miller. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Vincennes. Upon his graduation, he was recruited with full scholarship to play football for the University of Louisville. While playing there, he received the Johnny Unitas Award, which is displayed to this day at Cardinal Stadium. Also while attending U of L, he was initiated as a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. After two years, he had a serious knee injury, which ended his football career. He continued his education at Oakland City College and graduated with a degree in education. He worked many places during his life, including, Green Construction, Amax Coal Company, Eldorado Chemical, Warex Explosives, and he co-founded ERA First Advantage Realty. Marc was a member of the Winslow Indiana Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and is a Kentucky Colonel. He received an Indiana Real Estate Brokers License and held a private pilot license since 2007. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, fantastic cook, and liked to garden. His biggest love was golf. He loved to play in The Villages, Florida with his pals from Indiana. His pastime in Indiana was his grandchildren. Marc loved his grandchildren. He rarely missed soccer games and band performances by his grandchildren, Silas and Sophie. Sophie plays flute and piccolo for the Castle Marching Knights and he was so proud of her accomplishments, and would often cry when she played her solos. He is survived by his wife, Janice (Geurin) Miller; son, Ryan Miller (Liz) of Newburgh; daughter, Julie Labhart (Dustin Ushman) of Evansville; mother of granddaughter, Suzanne Kempel of Wake Forest N.C; grandchildren, Sophie and Silas Miller of Newburgh and Sawyer Labhart of Wake Forest NC; sister, Tracy Vosler (Greg) of Russells Point, OH; mother-in-law, Gail Geurin of Boonville, IN; brothers-in-law, Pat Geurin (Anne Stuart) of Newburgh, Mike Geurin (Paula) of Paris, TN and John Stevens (Rose) of Newburgh, IN; sisters-in-law, Donna Watson (Roger) of Eddyville, KY and Rita Miller of Shoals, IN, and several nieces and nephews. Marc was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald E. Miller; father-in-law, Wayne Geurin, mother-in-law, Jessie Geurin, and son, Shane (Buc) Labhart. Family and friends may visit 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261 and again on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. until service time. A Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, officiated by David Batts, with final resting place in Rose Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, IN.
