James B. “Jim” Courtney, 85, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, at Woodmont Health Campus. He was born September 8, 1937 in Morganfield, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Mattie (Wright) Courtney.
Jim worked in the Auto Parts Industry over 40 years. He was part-owner in Bartlett Parts Service and later owned and operated Lincolnland Auto Parts in Dale, IN and Warrick Automotive Supply in Newburgh, IN. He served in the Indiana National Guard and US Army Reserve. Jim was a member of Rolling Hills Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf and was proud to score a “hole in one” on #4. He attended Living Word Christian Church. Jim could build just about anything and enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and loved working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sue Courtney; sons, Tim Courtney (Paula) and Jeff Courtney (Debbie); grandchildren, Kyle Courtney (Kelly), Eric Courtney (Angelica), Sam Courtney (Megan) and Kaitlyn Courtney; great grandson, Liam James Courtney; and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Pastors Dan Gross and Fritz Kaufman. Friends may visit Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private at Rose Hill Cemetery.
