He served on the Warrick County Sheriff Department for 27 years, holding positions of 3rd Shift Sergeant, Training Officer and Chief Deputy. Charlie was a member of Warrick F.O.P. He enjoyed being with his family, spending time near the river, mowing grass, fishing and traveling around Warrick County roads.
Charlie was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane LaRue; brothers, Willis and Wayne; and sisters, Trela, Dora, Myrtle and Mary.
He is survived by his wife, Lynnette McCracken; daughters, Connie Klipsch (John), LaDonne Craig (Dave); sons, Greg Brown (Melissa) of Carmi, IL, Jeff Brown (Mary) of Evansville, Gerry Brown (Jennifer) of Newburgh; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta Runkle of Ft. Wayne, IN; brother-in-law, Novice Smith (Julie) of Newburgh; sisters-in-law, Dorothy McCracken and Margaret McCracken; niece, Amy Christian (Jeremy); nephew, Novice Smith (Rachel); several great-nieces and great-nephews; and his fur baby, Bella.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Pastor David Schwambach with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 3-7 PM on Wednesday and 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
