Beverly Gail Hildebrant, 86, of Newburgh, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. She was born September 4, 1937 in Carmi, IL to the late Virgil Creek and Violet (Beehn) Creek. Beverly graduated from Chandler High School in 1955 where at the end of her junior year, she realized her love for her soul mate, Jack Delbert Hildebrant, Jr., whom she later married on January 31, 1959. Beverly graduated from Deaconess School of Nursing as a diploma nurse in 1958. After graduation, she was allowed to observe the first heart transplant in Indiana, spending her day off, standing on a box in the corner just to watch and learn. She began her nursing career working as the night nursing supervisor at Deaconess Hospital. Later, in Coldwater, Michigan she helped start and worked in the areas first Intensive Care Unit. After moving to Alabama, she worked as a staff nurse and later Head Nurse of the Urology and Surgery Unit at Gadsden Baptist Hospital. After returning to school and obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Jacksonville State University in 1983, she became the Director of Nursing at Stringfellow Hospital in Anniston, Alabama. She turned to Home Health Nursing and also worked as a Nursing Instructor for Jacksonville State University in order to return to school. In 1987, she received her Maters of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and became a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. With this, she worked as Nursing Education Coordinator for Jacksonville Hospital until the door opened to practice in the Jacksonville Physician Clinic as one of the first Nurse Practitioners in the area. Officially, she retired in 1999. But, she returned to work as a Nursing Instructor for Gadsden State Community College for the 2000-2001 school year. Beverly was a member of Post Oak Springs Baptist Church in Jacksonville, AL and attended Living Word Christian Church in Newburgh, IN. Throughout her life, she worked to be a supportive Christian Wife and Mother. In the church, she has worked as Director of CYC (Christian Youth Crusaders) in Coldwater, Michigan, Children’s Church Director and teacher in Jacksonville, Alabama, Ladies Bible study teacher, Bible School Teacher and life long Sunday School Teacher of all ages wherever they lived. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, smocking, embroidery, quilting and crocheting and was always willing to share these talents with anyone around interested in learning them. She used her gift of hospitality by opening her home to many neighbors, friends, family and church family to share God’s love. She was a 4-H cooking and sewing leader and member of the Joy Quilters Guild and Bama Bells Quilting Club who made comfort quilts and donated many hand made quilts to needy children. With all her accomplishments in life, Beverly understood that anything she accomplished was not done through her own power, but Only through God’s hand as her Savior. At the age of five, Beverly's father, Virgil Creek, died suddenly at the age of 27. She was later preceded in death by her mother, Violet (Beehn) Abbott; father, Earl Lester Abbott; great grandson, Mason Hughes; and nephew, Justin Ellis. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Delbert J. Hildebrant, Jr.; sons; Delbert Jack Hildebrant III and Steven Hildebrant; daughter, Nancy Bradley (Mike); grandchildren, Mary Allen, Delbert Jack Hildebrant IV, Amanda Lever, Jasmine Hughes (Chase) and Jonathon Bradley (Jesse); great grandchildren, Ancelaine Hildebrant, Isaac Allen, Ryan Hildebrant, Matthew Bradley, Andrew Lever, Daniel Bradley, Ridley Hughes and David Lever; brothers, Virgil Creek (Judy) and Lester Abbott (Audra); sister, Vicky Hay; nieces and nephews, cousins, her loving church family, and many friends. Her family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and compassion. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Rev. Tommy Epperson, with burial in Lynnville Cemetery. Family and friends may visit Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
