Barbara Southard

Barbara Southard, 82, Newburgh, IN, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022. She was born on March 3, 1940 in South Gate, CA to the late James and Lena Mummert. Barbara was a member of Saint Benedict Cathedral for over 50 years. She sang in the choir, helped make quilts, served on the bereavement meal committee and participated in monthly adoration. Barbara worked at Kent Plastics and Whirlpool. She loved spending time with family, traveling, reading, working puzzles, watching movies and eating her favorite sweets. Barbara was very talented at many crafts and was generous with what she made. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald; grandson, Christopher Magan; sister, Josephine Miranda. Barbara is survived by daughters; Justine (Jim) Cameron of Evansville, IN, Sherri Magan of Fort Wayne, IN, sons; Brian (Lori) Southard of Newburgh, IN, Donald, Jr. (Stephanie) Southard of Lockport, Il; grandchildren, Craig Magan, Wesley (Katie) Southard, Shelby Southard, Montana Magan, Jeanine (David) McCracken, Colton Magan, John Cameron, Riley Southard, Cole Peterson; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Dave Mummert of Simi Valley, CA; many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Saint Benedict Cathedral. Family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at Alexander Newburgh Chapel.
