Myriam Sarachik was the single most important person in my life. She was my mentor and role model as a physicist, a woman and a human. With her, I learned how to study nature in addition to studying theories. For her, research is driven by curiosity and never by desire for power nor fame. I had a liberating freedom of reasoning without judgement under her wings. Without her protection, I wonder how far I will be able to go. Her passing is a devastating loss for the community. Nevertheless, her legacy will go on.

Dear Phil, yours and Myriam's partnership weathered years of hope, optimism, great difficulties, tragedy and triumph. Myriam, through all the miasma of uncertainty and success never failed to inspire with her grace, generosity, wit and enduring intelligence. We cannot know your grief. We can only mourn with you and your extended Sarachik and Morgenstein families.

My wife and I are saddened at this loss of a friend and colleague. Miriam and I had many chats about the uniqueness of CCNY and the opportunities the College provided. Many of these chats took place outside Marshak, where she added such greatness to physics, the sciences and all of CCNY. It is a  loss to the whole CCNY community - from students to administrators - and a great personal loss.

To Phil, Karen, and Family,
     It is with great sadness that we have heard of Myriam’s passing.  To us,  in our varied encounters through the years,  she was always lively,  straightforward, and welcoming our meeting.  Her warmth and personal interest will remain in our memory .
     Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time and we hope that you will find comfort from those close to you.
