Lyn graduated from the New York College of Music (now part of NYU Steinhardt School) and composed several Off-Broadway shows.
A lifelong entrepreneur in widely varying fields, Lyn owned and operated several highly successful restaurants including Ambrosia on East 60th St, and Lyn’s Café in Midtown, about which columnist Liz Smith enthused “…the food is terrif, and Lyn is on hand doing her super hostess bit.”
She also branched out into corporate catering and executive search work in the hospitality industry and, once again, she met with great success.
Lyn was a trailblazer in gay rights in NYC and was very active in the seminal stages of the city’s Human Rights Campaign Fund.
Lyn was an accomplished artist in oil and watercolor. As a designer, her exquisite jewelry was fashioned from sea glass, rare gems and silver and is worn by many. In addition, Lyn was a passionate animal lover throughout her life.
She is survived by her wife, Christine Rendel of New York City and Mattituck, NY, her brothers Melvin Goldstein (Cynthia) of Cleveland, OH, Jay Goldstein (Sharon) of Monroe Township, NJ, and countless dear friends. Nephews and nieces include Andre Goldstein, Craig Goldstein, Dechen Surkhang, and Stacy Goldstein.
A funeral service for Lyn will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10028. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service at 1:00 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
