John Thomas Shaw

On Monday, November 19, 2018, we lost a kind and caring soul in John Thomas Shaw, survived by his wife Noreen Ann Shaw (Bell), beloved daughters Kerry (Brent Brown) and Brianne (Scott Snyder), and three grandchildren: Cormac and Riddock Snyder, and Fiona Bell Brown. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Conway (Shaw), best friend, Patrick O’Connor, sisters and brothers in law and beloved nieces and nephews. Johnny Shaw was born on September 27, 1946 in New York, NY to Irish immigrants, Thomas and Delia Shaw. Johnny spent many years in his beloved Yorkville neighborhood, playing football for the Lexingtons and softball in Central Park for Carroll’s. He attended St. Ignatius Loyola followed by Power Memorial before joining Delta Air Lines, where he worked for over 30 years. Johnny loved sports – coaching and watching. He was an avid Notre Dame and New York Yankees fan. He was a fantastic husband, father and friend. Johnny was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Shaw, and sister-in-law, Kathleen Mellifont (Bell). Services will held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Chas. Peter Nagel Funeral Home, 352 E. 87th Street, New York, NY 10128 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. followed by a funeral mass on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola, 980 Park Ave., New York, NY 10028. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Brady Quinn’s 3rd and Goal Foundation, helping wounded veterans at home.
