He will be remembered for his zest for life, wisdom, sense of humor, love of family (and his vizslas). Frank was known for his generosity, loyalty toward friends, his moral compass, and colorful bowties.
Frank’s interests were eclectic. He took lessons for piano, voice, swing dancing, and drawing. He read voraciously, loved music, especially jazz, and rooting for his beloved Duke Blue Devils. One of his biggest passions was road biking, and while living in Denver he completed the Triple Bypass Bike Ride and the Mount Evans Hill Climb multiple times. He eventually replaced biking with golf, which he became equally passionate about.
Frank was born on December 24, 1950 in Rochester, New York to Frank and Joanne (Andersen) Wells. He attended Allendale School (Rochester), Johns Hopkins University, and Duke University where he received his MBA. He maintained lifelong friendships with many of his classmates.
His financial career was focused in the mining industry and took him all over the world. His long tenure at Newmont Mining included a year in Ghana and frequent travels throughout Central Asia and Russia. As CFO of Central Asia Metals, he resided in London for 2 years. He most recently served on the Board of Pure Energy Minerals.
Frank is survived by his wife, Yone, of 22 years, with whom he shared a storybook romance. He also leaves behind three children from his first marriage, a daughter Carey Torres, two sons Frank III (Amanda), and Jeremy (Dana), along with seven cherished grandchildren, Anyssa (daughter Devyn), Caleb, Lacey, Henry, Benjamin, Addison, and Logan. Frank is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Case (Brian), and his brother Peter (Joanne).
