He was born in the Bronx on February 25, 1951, a son of the late Louis and Marjorie Peyser. He grew up in White Plains, NY and Fort Lee, NJ, attending high school in New York City. He graduated college with a degree in Ceramics at Philadelphia College of Art.
Dennis was an artist and mold-maker for numerous leaders in the collectible porcelain industry, including The Franklin Mint and Lenox. He owned Adinah Studios, an ornamental restoration company. Projects included The Lansdowne Theater and diplomatic reception rooms in the State Department in Washington, DC. Dennis founded Crownpoint Collectibles, a body of work including handmade angels, tiles and vases. He continued historic restoration work when he moved to NYC in 2002. Notable projects include Tiffany windows in the Metropolitan Museum’s American wing and Broadway theaters including the John Golden Theater. Dennis spent countless hours in his studio, working on his art which brought him so much joy.
Dennis and his wife welcomed Charlotte Bronte, a sweet four-year-old black lab, into the family in 2021. They trained her to be a therapy dog with New York Therapy Animals, visiting local universities and non-profit organizations to share their love of animals.
Dennis loved cooking and mastering new recipes, golf, poetry, blues, jazz, oldies, movies, camping, flea markets, gardening, and fixing things that are not broken. He had a dedicated tai-chi practice for 40+ years. Dennis and Jan loved to travel, visiting Mexico, Ireland, Italy, and Spain, to name a few. Dennis was deeply guided by his Judaism and shared it with his friends and family, hosting high-holiday dinners and seders.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend shiva at the family home on Monday, October 7 at 6-9pm and Tuesday, October 8 at 2-8pm.
