I was looking to invite Carol for Johnson Christmas. So sorry to learn of her passing.  She was a lovely person and will be missed.  She will be remembered fondly on the David Johnson side in Mystic, Ct. Jan will miss sharing the memories of days gone by. 

I spent so many lovely afternoons with Carol on her deck, in her living room, in her city apartment.  I loved giving her massage - she loved and appreciated them so much - but the massage was almost incidental.  She extended her circle to include me - I met many of her dear friends, summer after summer.  We talked books, life, travel, culture and shared insights.  Carol was/is my  model of a balanced life, full and rich with all the things that mattered, and not bothered about the rest.  Her home in the Hamptons wasn't the most glamorous, but it was the one I would have most liked to live in.  I watched her lose her husband, go through cancer,  heard her worries and watched her triumph over everything.  Seeing these photos, I realized I never knew Carol young, but she never seemed old.  Thank you, dear one, for all the sharing, wonder, sophistication,  intelligence, appreciation, and acceptance.  The world shines a little dimmer without you here.  

With much love and condolences to all family and friends of Carol.  I will always remember my Aunt Carol as the spunky, convertible driving, beach loving, sunbathing, beautiful, Siamese cat loving, smart  and oh so stylish lady. Carol was a bright light in our family. Some of my best memories were visiting with her and Earl over the winter holidays and during summers in Amagansett. They both clearly found someone very special and made a great couple. We miss you. Love, David Johnson and family.

I've known Carol since the glory days of the healthcare revolution in the early 60's. I miss her already.  It was a lovely time and we were good friends.

I met Carol just shy of 50 years ago though our podiatrist . We shared a rental  office because of his introduction and then purchased an office together which we enjoyed for almost 40 years until Carol smartly decided we should sell three months before COVID hit. We spent so many happy years there marveling at the space and our friendship. Carol remains with me today with all her words of wisdom and her encouragement.  An inscription on  a plate which was hers and was left in the office when she moved out,  now sits on a bureau in my bedroom and says “ life should not just be lived but celebrated” . Carol did just that and encouraged us all to do the same.  
With love to Carol’s wonderful family and all her friends . She will be missed but not forgotten. 

To Carol's loving family -
I am a new friend of Carol's.  I have been trying to find pictures of when and where we met, and hope I can retrieve them eventually.  Until then I'll explain.  I am a lifetime friend of Laurie Greig, who has always referred to Carol as her mentor from the 70's or 80's. After a gap that life provides sometimes, they reconnected several years ago and I've heard stories about Carol and Laurie's adventures ever since.  A few years ago when Laurie told me that she was going to Venice to the Biennale with Carol and Carol's friend Marilyn, I immediately said - if Carol can have a friend along, can I join?!? Great idea! We began planning our trip - Laurie in Seattle, Marilyn and Carol in NYC and I in New Jersey.  We arrived at different times and finally met for the first time in Venice and spent a week having the best time covering a lot of ground.  I think Carol was 89 at the time! This began a really fun friendship filled with a lot of laughter and adventure and I am so grateful to have been included on that first trip.  Carol will be so missed, but the memories will endure and I hope to find some photos to document this.  Best to you all,

I had the pleasure of knowing Carol through my long friendship with her stepdaughter, Susan. Carol was aways so enjoyable to be around and I looked forward to her visits to Albany. I enjoyed a few at her apartment in Manhattan too. She was so engaging and interesting with the brightest smile and a contagious laugh. We shared a mutual admiration for cats and the New York Times.  I loved hearing her cat stories and sharing mine with her.  We both agreed that all you need in life is love, family, the Times, and a cat to be happy!
