Pauline Doris Gilbert went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 29, 2024. Pauline was born October 19, 1935 in Tazewell, Tennessee to parents Rev. Dewey Gilbert, Sr. and Anna Mae Minton Gilbert. She was the fifth of eight children. Pauline attended Claiborne High School and had careers at Woolworth in Middlesboro, Kentucky and Walmart in Tazewell, Tennessee.
Pauline loved the Lord; she was baptized and became a member of Riverview Baptist church at the age of 12 years old. In her later years attended Dogwood Heights Baptist Church.
She enjoyed reading, loved growing flowers and plants around her home, and feeding the birds. Pauline liked cooking and many recipes she made were handed down from her mom and Grandma Minton. One of her favorite things to do was spend time and chat with her sisters, Henrietta and Audrey, and sisters-in-law, Wanda and Mary. When they got together, their time was full of conversation, reminiscing, and laughter.
Although Pauline never had children of her own, she was an attentive aunt to her 10 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews. Pauline was a quiet lady who was an observer; she kept her opinion to herself. She was the type of person who you could go to for comfort, advice, or to confide in, knowing she would keep it to herself.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents Rev. Dewey William Gilbert and Anna Mae Minton Gilbert; sisters, Henrietta (Jack) Brooks, Marine Gilbert, and Audrey (Clyde) Mason; brothers, James, Carson, Dewey Jr. (Wanda), and Hollis (Mary) Gilbert; and brother-in-law Jack Brooks.
Survivors include nieces, Linda (Bob) Walker, Pam (Larry) Pressnell, Jackie (Don) Magee, Kim Mason, Susan (Randy) Evans, and Andrea (Jerry) Gilbert-Massengill; nephews, Alan (Janet) Gilbert, Phillip Gilbert, Scott (Isobel) Mason, and Joey (Jamie) Gilbert as well as many great nieces and great nephews; and sisters-in-law Wanda (Jr.) Gilbert and Mary (Hollis) Gilbert; and brother-in-law, Clyde (Audrey) Mason.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pauline’s memory to the England Cemetery, Tazewell, Tennessee.
The family will receive friends Monday July 1, 2024 from 2 until 3 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 3 PM in the Coffey Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will follow in the England Cemetery.
