Mrs. Marie Ellen Noe, 89, of Tazewell, Tennessee peacefully passed away December 14, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends following an extended hospital stay. Marie was born in Monroe, Michigan on July 8, 1927. She and her family moved to Tazewell in 1972. Marie married Carl, the love of her life, on December 20, 1951. Shortly after moving to Tennessee she went back to college and earned her LPN nursing degree. She was employed by Claiborne County Hospital as a member of the nursing staff for 11 years, leaving to provide care for Carl, while he battled cancer, during the final year of his life. They were married 38 years, until he passed in 1989. Following his death, Marie founded, and served as director of, The Claiborne County Hunger Ministry for the past 25 years. Next to caring for her family, her greatest passion was the hunger ministry. Her quote in a feature article in the East Tennessee Catholic magazine, “God gives me the strength to be here and I love it. I’m going to keep doing this as long as I can crawl,” perfectly illustrates her commitment to serving others.
Grateful to have shared her life are her children: Carla, Joe, Elaine and Jeff; grandchildren: Joe Jr., Jason, Aaron, Ben, Riley, Kassey, Nick and Jonathan; great-grandchildren: Cody, Callie, Jacob, Sierra, Aedan, Ashton, Lacey, Christian and Mckalie; siblings: Linda and Francis; multiple nieces, nephews and other special family and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents: Ben and Ada (Ryan) Weier; husband Carl; son David; siblings: Ruthie, Raymond, Arthur, Joann, Clinton, Carol, Betty and Allen.
The family will be present at Coffey Funeral Home, Tazewell, Tennessee, Saturday, December 17 for a prayer service beginning at 5PM. It will begin with praying the rosary and continued with visitors sharing their favorite memories of time spent with Marie. Visitation will continue until 8PM.
Funeral mass will be held Sunday, December 18, at 4PM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 816 Blue Top Road, Tazewell. Burial service will be held immediately following the mass at Fairview Cemetery; food and fellowship will then be served at Christ the King Catholic Church.
