John B Collins, age 70, went home to be with the Lord on January 30th, 2016. He was born on June 4th, 1945 in Thorn Hill, Tennessee. He was a member of Freedoms Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, a member of Tate Springs Lodge #438 F&AM, and a member of the Jericho Shriners of Kingsport. John retired from General Motors in 1997. Preceded in death by his parents, Will and Minnie Collins; brothers, Henry and Lonnie Collins; sisters, Dexter Coffey, Helen Waller, Dent and Anna Mae Collins.
Survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Brenda Sue (Gross) Collins; son, Jerry Douglas Collins; daughter, Tracy Elizabeth (Stanley) Dalton, step-daughters Teresa (Michael) Johnson and Melissa (Brad) French; Grandchildren, Andrea (Brad) Spoone, Adam Dalton, JJ Collins, Amanda, Stephanie, Todd Johnson and Breanna Long. Great Grandchildren, Makenna Spoone and baby girl Spoone; sister, Lillie Coffey.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 P.M. Tuesday February 2, 2016 at Coffey Funeral Home. Funeral service 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Freedoms Chapel Missionary Baptist church. Burial in the Freedoms Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
