James was a member of the Cave Springs Baptist Church. He attended school in Tazewell, Tennessee as a child. He then moved to Indiana and married Anna Lou Whitaker in April of 1960. He spent several years working at Graves Bakery in Indiana. He also worked in the commercial janitorial industry for many years. He retired as a school custodian from Lafayette School Corporation. He and the love of his life, “Annie” as he affectionately called her, then moved back to Tazewell, Tennessee to enjoy their retired years. He enjoyed decorating cakes for his family and working outside on his latest project. James liked to grow vegetables and raise chickens. He also enjoyed fishing with his son and his brothers as well as boating in local lakes.
James is preceded in death by his parents Edna and Paskel Peck; wife Anna Peck; granddaughter Amber Peck; siblings: Geneva Peck, Troy Peck, Walter Peck, Spurgeon Peck, Imogene Thomas, Rosie Payne, Jerry Peck, Sudie Wilson, and Junior Peck.
James is survived by his daughter Teresa Jenkinson (Clayton)and son David Peck ( Shauna ); grandchildren, Jennifer Hayworth (Dan), Anthony Felix, Jessica Peck, and five great-grandchildren; brothers Richard Peck and Roy Peck.
The family will receive friends Saturday April 8, 2023 from 5 until 7 PM at Coffey Funeral Home. A graveside service will be Sunday April 9, 2023 at 10 AM in the Cave Springs Cemtery.
