Mrs. Illa Messer age 87 of Morristown, born March 13th, 1935, formerly of White Pine, met Jesus face to face with her family by her side on January 13th, 2023. Illa was saved as a young girl at Bell Hill Church in Hartford, TN. "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38). Although Illa suffered from dementia for many years, she exuberated the love of Christ until her very last breath. Illa was known for her cooking and canning. There was always a hot meal in the stove and you never left her house empty handed. She was a hard worker, loved to garden, and found it an honor to help raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Illa was also a talented musician and singer. Illa was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Hattie Moore, mother and father-in-law Winnie and Dave Messer, husband Edgar Messer, son and daughter-in-law Mike and Helen Messer, daughter-in-law Darlene Messer, grandson Tony Turner, granddaughters Tammy Strange, Lisa Sinard and Sandy Messer, great-grandsons Chad Strange and Seth Satterfield. She is survived by sons Ej Messer and Randy (Janice) Messer both of Morristown, daughters Doris (Roger) Hall of Morristown, Rose (Robert) White of Newport, Linda (Michael) Taylor, and Jean (Gill) Sinard both of Talbott. Illa was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Sisters Cora Wilson of Dandridge, Edna Woody of Morristown, and Sally Chaney of North Carolina. Brother Ennis (Della) Moore of Newport. Along with a host of family and friends. The family would like to give our sincerest thank Yous' to Life Care Center of Morristown for loving our mother and mamaw. They always went above and beyond to ensure she had tootsie pops, stick candy, and baby dolls. Also, a thank you to Dr. Gupta's office for their loving care. The family will receive friends Monday, January 16 from 4-7pm at Beulahland Independent Baptist Church in Talbott with funeral services to follow at 7pm at Beulahland Independent Baptist Church.
