Born to Raymond E. Dore and Flora Ruth Barnes of Alton, New Hampshire, on May 24, 1932, Bob Dore led a fulfilling life. Included in his many activities was a distinguished military career, raising three wonderful children, and shuttling thousands of children to better futures as a school bus driver. Bob was the second of two children. Bob enlisted in the military in 1952, then married his first wife, Dorthy Dolberg on July 18, 1954. He enjoyed 11 years with her and brought three children into the world: Debbie, Jeff, and Rick. In 1965, Dorthy preceded him in death following a car accident and Bob took on the responsibility of solely raising his three children while serving in the United States Air Force. Bob worked hard to keep the planes flying and achieved the rank of master sergeant before retiring in 1972. After leaving the military, he began working on turbine air conditioning units for computers in Denver, Colorado. Bob moved to New Port Richey, FL in 1977 where he began driving a school bus for the Pasco County Schools. He drove for sixteen and a half years, helping children make the trek between their homes and schools on their way to a better future.
Bob thoroughly enjoyed boating and taking his boat out into the gulf with friends and family. He also had a passion for travel, spending his summers traveling the United States to visit his children, grandchildren, and other family members. During one of his trips numerous trips to New Hampshire to visit his brother, he met Elaine, fell in love and married a year and a half later. Bob and Elaine were happily married for fourteen years before his passing. Bob enjoyed dancing, bowling, and being around friends and family. Throughout his life, Bob shared a passion for life and the value of doing a job right if it was worth doing. He was a perfectionist and expected the same out of those around him. He was known for being fair with high expectations tempered with a sense of humor and a love of being a bit ornery. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family as he continues on the next leg of his journey.
Public viewing will be Thursday, June 6th from 1:00-3:00pm with funeral services at 3pm at Meadowlawn Funeral Home in New Port Richey, Fl. Bob will be buried beside his first wife, Dorthy Dore in Northglenn, CO.
