Mary Josephine Langie, 82, of New Port Richey, FL, left this Earth to be with her Maker Thursday, March 16th 2017. Mary Jo was born in Rochester, N.Y. on July 13, 1934 to Mary Burns and Eugene Henry Langie. She attended Our Lady of Mercy High School and Niagara University. Following college, Mary Jo joined the Sisters of Mercy and was an active part of the sisterhood for 35 years, marked especially with her work at the Church of Holy Name in Greece, NY,.
In 1984, Mary Jo moved to New Port Richey, FL and joined the staff of North/ Meadowlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery. She also became a member of the Gulf Harbor Yacht Club and was a longtime member and Fleet Chaplain proud to play a role in the annual Blessing of the Fleet and Wreath Laying Ceremonies. Mary Jo was always available to listen and offer empathy. She had a magnanimous spirit and deeply loved her family, friends and her Lord. She was generous with her time, talents, and funds and known to laugh often and enjoy a good party.
Mary Jo is survived by her younger sister, Julie Langie Fitzsimmons, sister-in-laws Linda Langie and Barbara Deignan and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers; Eugene B. Langie, Michael L. Langie, and sister, Liz Langie Loetzer. A celebration of her life will be held, Saturday, April 1st at her Church, Our Lady Queen of Peace in New Port Richey, FL. The burial with follow mass and be held at Meadowlawn Funeral Home in New Port Richey, FL.
