During his four years of military service in the 1970’s, Les was a member of the elite United States Air Force Security Service (USAFSS) that engaged in the production of Signals Intelligence. Sergeant Snyder was assigned to two of the command’s Far East units, one in Japan and the other in the Philippines. In addition to producing and disseminating timely intelligence, Les and his unit in the PI supported the drawdown of U.S. forces in Vietnam and the return of U.S POWs. Like his USAFSS colleagues, possessing a Top Secret clearance and having access to the Nation’s secrets came at a price. Les could only discuss his many contributions in generalities.  It was an honor to have served with Les, and I will miss the camaraderie we enjoyed after reconnecting.  RIP Les.

I met Les working at Gulf Junior High School in 1980. When the 9th  grades moved to the high schools a couple years later he moved to Gulf High School and I stayed at Gulf Middle School. He was a good friend of mine and over the years saw him frequently in shooting competitions. He will be missed.......

So sorry to hear about Mr. Snyder. He was an amazing teacher and person who touched so many lives.  I think he may have taught most of us Gibson kids back then and also our daughter. He was a friend of my Dad, Chuck Gibson who passed away a few years ago. God Bless, please accept our deepest sympathies and also, Heaven has a couple members of the softball team now. Batter up!

My neighbor, teacher, best friend for 40 years. "Uncle" to my two kids. The sadness of his passing is overwhelming.

I am so sorry that  we did not attend the services for Leslie. I did not learn of Leslie's death until today (10-9-23). He was a dear family friend and Montana Ave neighbor. Who could not love the guy in the orange shirt and great suspenders. It always brightened my day to visit with Leslie. I am so thankful that I was able to re-connect with him upon my return to Florida. He will be greatly missed by me and my brother, Frank. We will keep Leslie in our thoughts and prayers.

Les and I attended Gulf High School, class of 1965. He and friend, Dick Marchman helped me through Algabra . We went to prom together one year. He was such a gentleman. When he returned from the service and me from my travels, we often sat in bleachers to watch GHS football. The last few years we sat together at Reunions. He was a good friend. I'm sad to loose him, and will greatly miss him. Bless you Les.....Pat Baillie

I'm so very sad to hear of Mr.  Snyder's passing.  He was my science teacher at Gulf High and he was such a great teacher.  He always was supportive and made sure we understood.  He made me laugh constantly.  He will be missed.  Class of 1991!

Friends since 1957, I'm glad I got to stop and shoot the breeze with Les often.  He kept me up to date on all the old timers and the happenings around NPR.  I enjoyed our discussions on politics. & world events, and Les's common sense solutions to all the our problems.  I'm so very glad I got to see and talk to him earlier in the week.  My condolences go out to his family and his many close friends.  I'll miss you buddy!    Dan

Les was a favorite family friend, not a nicer guy anywhere.  His family made many contributions to the community of New Port Richey.  We will miss seeing him at the yearly Gulf High reunions.  The Marchman Family
