Robert Joe Finley “Bob” passed away at his home on November 13, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 20th at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth with Pastor Susan Howe officiating. Burial will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Cremation and services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth. He was born September 24, 1941 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Shorty Finley and Rozella Finley. Bob and his brother Marion were raised in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Bob then joined the Air Force and was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base. While stationed there he met Frances Ackerman, they were married November 23, 1963. A short time later they purchased their farm in New Plymouth where they raised three children, Teresa, Bill and Ty.
He is described as a very compassionate, caring person. He was a friend to all. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren beyond measure.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on his farm. He and Frances spent years raising horses, cattle, dogs and various other animals. They spent many years taking their children to rodeos and horse shows. Bob’s greatest passion was taking his dogs to herding trials and shows. He and Frances were very proud of the quality of dogs that they had produced and trained. Bob was especially excited that Nate and Stephanie Bake were helping his dog “Que” get the rest of her titles. He and Frances made many lifelong friends at the dog shows and clinics.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years Frances; his daughter Teresa Allen (Ted); sons Bill Finley and Ty Finley (Pam); his older brother Marion Finley; nine grandchildren Elia Finley, Samuel Finley, Gabriel Finley, Nathaniel Finley, Janet Hadcock (Mike), Arisha Hart (Shawn), Jennifer White (Don), Tiffany Cherry (Justin), and Taytum Allen; nine great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Shorty and Rozella, and one grandson Dusty.
