William “Bill” Saunders passed away Saturday, September 16th 2023 at the age of 67. He was born on May 30th 1956 in New Orleans to Wilbur “Chubby” Saunders and Geraldine Henry Saunders. As a lifelong Louisiana resident, Bill took great pleasure in his occupation as a project specialist for Freeport- McMoRan, where he made many connections. Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Lisa Ann Metz Saunders; and his parents, Wilbur “Chubby” Saunders and Geraldine Henry Saunders. He is survived by his sons, Jonathan Thomas Saunders (Kimberly Ann), Bradley William Saunders (Sarah Woodruff); sister, Wanda Ferro; brother, Wayne Saunders; and grandchildren, Logan Emmett Cox-Saunders, Isabella Woodruff, and Ava Grace Saunders (due Oct 8th 2023).
The family would like to give a special thanks to Bill’s work family at Freeport Copper & Gold.
A memorial visitation in Bill’s honor will be held Wednesday September 27th 2023 from 11AM-1PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124 followed by an inurnment at Lake Lawn Park. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the SPCA in honor of Bill.
