Wendy Rome Townsend passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on Saturday, October 15, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Francis “Frank” George Rome and Sally Ann Madere Rome.
She was the beloved mother of Amber Townsend and Brittany Townsend Ganucheau (Gregory). She was a doting grandmother to her grandchildren, Harley and Emory, who called her Honey. Wendy is survived by her sisters, Claudia Carter (Jack), Ginger Rockweiler (Steven), and brother Jody Rome (Deeni). Wendy was also an adoring godmother to Natalie Rockweiler Klibert (Shawn), Brandon Rome (Laurie), and Joshua Carter (Gillian). Loving Tee-Tee to Jennifer Carter, Katie Carter, Adam Rockweiler, Eric Rockweiler (Whitney), Matthew Rome, Victoria Rome Lott (John). Wendy had many friends and a large extended family.
She was born and raised in New Orleans until 1970, then moved to Jefferson Parish for the remainder of her life.
Wendy’s most treasured moments involved spending time with family. She was the life of the party and loved to celebrate special occasions and holidays. Wendy was an excellent cook, a lifelong Saints Fan; loved gardening, bowling, and playing cards. She was a master organizer and decorator, and gift giving was her love language.
She was a long-time licensed insurance agent since 1979, with a focus on Life & Health and Financial Planning. She earned her CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) and ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) designations while working for MassMutual in the 80-90s. She then brought her talents to Ochsner Health where she served in Human Resources/Benefits until she retired in March of 2022. She was greatly admired by her colleagues and the retirees she assisted. Wendy was also a beloved member of the Mo’s Chalet community where she shared laughs and many wonderful memories over the years.
Although her time on earth has passed, Wendy’s legacy will continue to shine through her children, grandchildren, and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation beginning from 9:00 am – 11:00 am with a Catholic Mass following at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
